Carol is the Chief Executive of Southern Inshore Fisheries Management Co Ltd, who are a regular contributor to the Fishing Paper. Southern Inshore is mandated to represent commercial fishing quota holders for over 100 fishstocks throughout the South Island. The company is a member of a number of government agency science and technical working groups as well as active members of the NZ Federation of Commercial Fishermen and Port Nelson Commercial Fishermen’s Association. Until recently Southern Inshore was a member of the Kaikoura Guardians but maintain a link to them and other community organisations working in the marine and coastal areas.
Carol has 40 years’ experience in the commercial fishing industry in New Zealand and Australia with a background in fisheries management, science, policy and environmental management, and fishing gear technology.
