There were two minor explosions that Saturday afternoon: the first being the small kahawai that took the lure during a mid-tide fish at McKee Reserve near Mapua, Nelson, and the second when six-year-old Connor Duffield saw his first fish on the end of his line.
The feisty kahawai put up a great fight and had Connor’s rod bending and twitching, which I think hooked him into a lifetime of fishing. A stunning family day out.
