Last month the new firearms ACT passed through all the steps to become law.
This was the result of a lot of hard work and a huge amount of time. While there are a few things that didn’t go our way, there are also some seriously good wins. To everyone who helped, whether through written submissions or both written and verbal contributions, thank you. All of those efforts helped in the writing of the ACT party’s bill. My thanks to everyone who contributed in any way. For me, the last part was a bit overwhelming in its size.
There is still a lot to do, and it’s important that the ACT Party gets as much support as possible. The opposition parties still seem to hate us for some reason. I have never been able to work out why, as we are such nice people in my opinion! If we have a change of government, there is no telling what they will do, other than, apparently, keeping the police in charge.
The Aussies are being treated very badly by their government, with what amounts to a forced confiscation, or what those in power call a “Buy Back”. At the prices they are paying, it gives the impression that they are directly related to the first English people sent there for theft and are keeping the family business and tradition alive.
It’s disappointing that governments keep trying to make scapegoats of licence holders, who we know aren’t to blame. Their only mistake seems to be having weak prime ministers and ministers. The idea that disarming or restricting licence holders will make any difference to crime shows that they haven’t properly looked into who is actually committing these crimes. Instead, they seem to follow the BS that criminals get their guns from licence holders.
It makes you wonder where they think all the drugs come from. Chemists and hospitals, perhaps? Apparently, it’s the same sort of thinking: they couldn’t possibly be smuggled into the country. What drug dealer would stoop so low as to bring guns across the border?
If this Aussie-run sham goes the same way as ours, the police will be so busy targeting licence holders that the gangs will get the opportunity to recruit, their numbers will soar, and everything will get worse. Gun crime will go up, not down.
Unlike when we got turned on here and only had the single man standing in our corner, at least the Aussies have a number of people defending licence holders. Everyone here needs to remember how it was for us and who has generally backed us when it comes to this election.
The ACT Party needs our help if they are going to be in a position to help us. Without question, every vote counts. Without serious numbers, we will be in trouble. Want better outcomes? They need to hold more seats. It really is that simple.
I heard something the other day about people not liking to admit, or being asked, who they vote for. That seems bad to me. It says that you don’t trust your own choices, or perhaps that you’re ashamed to admit who you picked.
Think on that.
