It’s back

We are excited to announce that the Westport Whitebait Festival is back after a long year of flood repairs and Covid cancelations. This year’s event will take place on Saturday October 22 from 10am – 3pm.

Palmerston Street will be closed off from Brougham St corner to just outside the Fire Station including Lyndhurst St from the railway line to Russell St.  This will all be jam packed with entertainment, activities, stalls, competitions and more.

There is something for everyone and all ages. Undercover tables and chairs are set up so people can eat, drink and mingle and enjoy the entertainment which will be performed throughout the day and includes Dust & Gold and Fly by Night Duo on the NBS Theatre outdoor stage.

Kokotahi Band, Westport Pipe Band and Westport Brass Band will entertain outside the clocktower and Two for One clowns will be street roaming and making balloon figures.

Youth Voice are hosting a three versus three basketball competition and a Carnival Zone.

Daryl Crimp our celebrity judge will be taste testing and judging our Whitebait Cookoff and filleting competitions. Come along and share your best whitebait recipe with him.

Join us for a fun filled weekend on the Coast.
